november 2006 : Kitoech

The long-awaited new Kiotech site is now live, maintaining the existing branding and feel of the site whilst vastly expanding the maintainability and modern feel, using XHTML, CSS2, and PHP with a database-free news release system.

Kiotech is a unique fish food technology company based near London with distributors around the world.

october 2006 : Exponetic

Exponetic is a web development and technical expertise agency. Through declension systems, Nick is working ongoing with them to deliver web application management and development for one of their leading clients using PHP5 and MySQL.

july 2006 : Alpha Browett Taylor

declension is proud to announce another succesful joint venture with carciofino.com! Alpha Browett Taylor (formerly Alpha Property) is an expanding international property investment and management company. Their site needed to reflect their changing face and requirements as well as their rebranding.

declension was involved from the beginning with the back-end of the site, creating a custom-made database / content management system for their investment and case study portfolios. A flexible news management system was created, supporting pseudo-markup and dynamic thumbnailing and resizing of uploaded pictures.

may 2006 : wedding website

A new website for the friends and bride & groom Giles and Michelle is now online. It combines a classic look with modern features including a spam-proof guestbook, full-colour shadows, online RSVP, photo close-ups and much more.

april 2006 : new phone numbers

declension's phone number has changed and is now 020 7193 7584. This provides a lower rate for most customers and has full internet-based voicemail support. As it is VoIP You can also use Skype to contact declension.

february 2006 : hall school

hall school website

Through the ongoing partnership with carciofino, a new website for Hall School has been created. declension was responsible for the post-design stages, taking the concept art and templates and turning them into web pages.

A customised CMS was used to allow the staff full access to modify and update the content. The site has now gone live to great success, both from the client and the freelancers involved – so much so there are two more projects started as a result!

october 2005 : azaidou

Up-and-coming acoustic duo, Azaidou are now online. declension created a modern take on a natural, old-time feel for the site to reflect their music – guitar / piano-based ballads with haunting melodies from lead singer Tim Chapman.

Extra features include customised mailing list request, and search-engine-friendly URLs.

august 2005 : carciofino group

declension is proud to have become part of carciofino, a small group of sub-contracters pooled to do work for clients. Several sites and PHP-based back-ends are in proposal / development stages currently.

june 2005 : chalet micro-site

chalet for sale in the pyrenees

A micro-site has been set-up for a long-standing client, to advertise and increase the asking-price of a chalet in the pyrenees he is selling.

This is an example of a rapid-development, low-cost project at declension – hard to implement in larger agencies.

april 2005 : BWDMA

Nick has been accepted to the British Web Design & Marketing Association, further evidence of declension's commitment to raising the standards and professionalism in a sector that has a very mixed reputation.

The Association seeks to improve e-business standards through sharing knowledge, understanding and proliferation of best practice. To further its aims and objectives, the association actively solicits constructive relationships with industry, government, academia and other such bodies, as may have common goals or purpose.

march 2005 : new office

The new declension office space

After a brief search, declension has now moved to a new office, based in London's Old Street area. Within walking distance of the city and with good transport links it should be an improved presence in London.

Old street and shoreditch are also home to dozens of small and medium sized businesses in the media, IT, charity and new media sectors and declension will be sharing facilities with other internet businesses.

january 2005 : PIH move

Paintings in Hospitals is a charity devoted to improving the quality of life for short and long-term patients in hospitals around the UK, and a valued client. In January they undertook a complex and potentially troublesome move to much improved offices near London Bridge.

The PIH office move Nick was involved with the decomissioning of old equipment, auditing, and the re-setup in the new premises, which include IT facilities for new sub-tenants of PIH. The addition of a multi-level secure wireless network, upgraded broadband, digital phones and central patchbay-based ethernet has brought PIH into the 21st century with little to no complication.

2005: new prices

Starting in 2005, declension standard pricing is changing. The new prices will be even simpler than previously – just two rates, high and low.

  • High rate: £45 / hr, or £290 / day. This covers all on-site support work, consultancy, and most development.
  • Basic rate: £30 / hr or £190 / day. This covers off-site / remote support, hourly web design and basic development, and graphics work.

Good news too – any discounts will increase slightly for simplicity eg 15% discounts will be increased to 20%. Web sites, web software and large projects will be quoted for individually but based on the above rates.

december 2004 : aivlosin.com

aivlosin site ECO, a long-standing client of declension, is an multi-national animal health company, producing medicines for livestock. After several months of hard work by both declension and eco a new site was officially launched to promote their flagship new drug aivlosin.

The new site includes many advanced features, fully xHTML 1.0 compliant, multi-language support (French and Spanish versions coming soon), cross-browser PNG-24 support, world distributor section.

october 2004 : henwood energy

Henwood Energy is a multi-national consultancy and software solutions provider in the energy market. They supply their clients with simulation engines and software used around the US, Europe and Asia.

declension is pleased to be contracted to co-design and develop some automation software for them, on and off-site of their London office. This is a specialised requirement for one of their clients, and we are pleased to say so far the project, developed in Java with XML, has been delivered on time and even exceeded specification!

july 2004 : spam problems

To our annoyance, declension.net has been the victim of some "joe job" attack. They have been sending emails from addresses like ZFZZWZUFDTC@declension.net or Latham@declension.net advertising online drug stores and prescriptions. If you have been receiving any such emails, rest assured that these are NOTHING do do with declension systems and is an instance of fraudulent spoofing of our addresses. Nick is working on tracking down the source of this spam and alerting the relevant authorities but until then please just delete any such emails.

may 2004 : new site!

As you can see, it's here. Bigger, brighter, faster. In addition, it's a lot more accessible - try resizing your fonts (View Menu->Text Size in Internet Explorer or View Menu->Text Zoom in Mozilla / Netscape. Also, there's a lot of new functionality for all declension clients, with some exciting new interactive tools for tracking your projects on their way.

march 2004 : academy marquees

Long in the making, and no detail left unchecked, the new academy marquees site is up and attracting a lot of interest from old clients and new. Ed and his team run a premium marquee hire service based in camberley, surrey and with a list of prestigous clients in London, the South East and beyond. It was clear that the old site was not advertising the quality and impressive nature of the finished product, so special care was taken to produce and edit the best photos, with a unique and fitting navigation to match.

january 2004 : PIH

Paintings in Hospitals is a charity devoted to improving the quality of life for short and long-term patients in hospitals around the UK. Based in London, with HRH The Prince of Wales as patron they now operate a number of regional offices. This continued expansion has pushed the need for an long-term IT & technology partnership, which declension has gladly undertaken.

november 2003 : BSIR

BSIR logo declension is proud to announce further work in the medical field with a long-term contract for the British Society of Interventional Radiologists, in one of the busiest branches of medicine in the UK. The involvement will see technical advice and development given to the society regarding the website and accompanying technologies, including the forthcoming product directory (see prototype).

october 2003 : new advert out

declension advert After far too long on the drawing boards, the postcards are printed and being posted as we speak. Not only are they in lovely gloss colour but the back has space to scribble on!

september 2003 : gezfry.com updated

Continuing efforts from both gez and declension.net have pushed his website into the public eye. His latest cover piece earned him an offer from a major american comic publisher (no clues!) and at over 4GB / month of traffic, it's clearly a huge success!

At declension our web design is based on open standards and platform-independence. To help test new (and existing) websites, we have an ever-increasing set of platforms and computers to test on:

june 2003 : remote pc support available

Trials of Cambridge's VnC software have been successful for clients so far and now will be offered to all clients on broadband.

may 2003 : new declension site launched

declension systems was founded in 2002 by Nick Boultbee as a vehicle for his freelance work. In the short time it has existed it has already shown strong signs of growth.
